As someone who creates brands and websites for other people, creating for yourself and your own brand can be so difficult. Like the shoemaker who makes shoes for other people but has rags for themselves. Maybe I’ve been a little afraid of putting myself out there? I see it a lot with people who work for themselves. Especially introverts, putting yourself and your work out there is so scary. You want people to love what you do, but you have to remember that how can they love your work if they never get to see it?
Starting ‘Collette & Coco’ has been a massive learning curve. At first, it was going to be a collaboration but that didn’t turn out so I ended up having to go it alone, plus finding the time to dedicate to C&C was tough when I’ve been focussing on tying up old client projects. I’m finally starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel though and feeling ready to start showing off my business and making it something I can be proud of.
One thing that held me back was the lack of decent photos of myself. I’m not the most confident of people in front of a camera and it was something I wanted to get right. Luckily, I have some amazing contacts in the photography business whom I could call on to help!
I met up with Sarah in Preston on a cold Monday morning in March. We’d chatted on social media but hadn’t met in person, but she was amazing at putting me at ease in front of the camera and we actually had a good laugh. She knew all the best positions to get into to get my most flattering angles too. I went away feeling like I’d made a friend for life.
If you’re looking for an amazing photographer to take care of your branding shots, I’d definitely recommend Sarah, She also covers wedding & lifestyle photography and has a few spaces left for 2019 bookings. If you’re getting married, check her out, before she’s all booked up.
